想使用别人的东西或得到别人的许可时，常使用结构Could I ...? 或者I wonder if ... 使语气婉转一些。 [高考真题] 1. — We’d like you to start work tomorrow if possible. — I’m sorry, but I can’t possibly start until Monday. ______? （辽宁2005） A. Do you agree with me B. Is that a good idea C. Do you think I’m right D. Will that be all right 2. — Do you think I could borrow your bicycle? — ______ （浙江2005） A. How come? B. Take your time. C. Yes, go on. D. Yes, help yourself. [答案与解析] 1. D。说话双方在商量什么时候可以开始工作，甲想让乙明天就开始，而乙想星期一开始，并征求对方的意见：Will that be all right?（那样行不行?）。类似的句型还有：I wonder if I could ...；Would / Do you mind ...? 2. D。甲想借对方的自行车，乙表示许可，并让甲自己去拿（help yourself）。如果你不愿意，可以说I’m afraid not或者You’d better not. [巩固练习] 1. — Would you mind my coming over and having a look at your new garden? My little son’s curious about those roses you grow. |
